The Land:
Swartland’s rugged, sun-drenched terrain is the beating heart of South Africa’s most exciting wines. The region’s dry-farmed bush vines dig deep into ancient decomposed granite soils, creating wines with structure and vibrancy. Hot, arid summers, tempered by Atlantic breezes, produce small, concentrated berries with natural acidity and depth. This blend is sourced from old vines across the Paardeberg, where the combination of schist, clay, and granite brings both intensity and finesse.
The Wine:
A field blend led by Shiraz, Cinsault, and Grenache, this wine is made with minimal intervention to preserve purity and freshness. Whole-bunch fermentation with native yeasts in concrete and open-top fermenters gives it a lifted, perfumed profile, while aging in old foudres and concrete tanks ensures a textured yet vibrant palate. The result is a medium-bodied, energetic red, balancing dark berry fruit with savory spice, fine tannins, and a stony, mineral core. A touch of grip on the finish makes it an excellent food wine, equally at home with grilled meats or Mediterranean dishes.

His hands-off approach—organic farming, whole-cluster ferments, and aging in neutral vessels—allows the region’s raw beauty to shine.
