The Land
Nestled in the rugged hills of Abruzzo, Italy, Lammidia Frekt 2021 is from the high-altitude vineyards of Villa Celiera, perched at 600 meters above sea level. This unique location, surrounded by the Apennine Mountains and influenced by the nearby Adriatic Sea, creates a cool, windy microclimate that allows for slow, even ripening of the grapes. The vineyards are farmed without chemicals, and the land's calcareous clay soils infuse the wine with minerality and a sense of place that is unmistakably Abruzzese.

The Wine
This is an unfiltered, unfined blend of Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes that bursts with wild, untamed character. With a hazy, pale golden hue, this wine greets you with aromas of citrus peel, green apple, wild herbs, and a hint of salinity. On the palate, it's vibrant and alive, with zesty acidity, a touch of funk, and a slight effervescence that makes each sip dance. The wine is dry with a low alcohol level, typically around 11%, making it bright, refreshing, and easy to drink. Its raw, unpolished nature showcases the true expression of the land, free from manipulation and full of life.

The People

Lammidia is the brainchild of childhood friends Marco Giuliani and Davide Gentile, who embraced natural winemaking as a way to reconnect with their roots and challenge the conventions of traditional wine production. With no formal training but a deep respect for the land, they craft wines that are as playful and unconventional as they are soulful. Their approach is minimal intervention: spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, no filtration, and zero added sulfur. For Marco and Davide, winemaking is a joyful expression of freedom, spontaneity, and a little bit of chaos.

Central Italy, excluding Tuscany, encompasses the varied regions of Lazio, Umbria, Marche, Abruzzo, and Emilia-Romagna, each contributing distinct expressions to the country’s wine landscape. The Apennine Mountains run through much of the area, creating dramatic elevation shifts that moderate the warm Mediterranean climate and preserve freshness in the wines. Verdicchio from Marche and Trebbiano from Abruzzo are among the standout white wines, while red wines from Montepulciano, Sangiovese, and Sagrantino show depth and regional character. Volcanic soils near Rome, limestone in Marche, and clay-rich hills in Umbria all contribute to a diverse range of terroirs. These regions blend ancient viticultural heritage with a growing wave of quality-focused producers.
