The Land
Corty Artisan Pouilly-Fumé emerges from the esteemed vineyards of Pouilly-sur-Loire, situated on the right bank of the Loire River in France's famed Loire Valley. Located just right across the river from Sancerre. The vineyards are planted on 'Caillottes,' a distinctive terroir characterized by its chalky, limestone-rich soils scattered with small white pebbles. These well-drained soils, combined with the region's continental climate, offer ideal conditions for Sauvignon Blanc, the grape behind Pouilly-Fumé.
The Wine
The 2021 vintage of Corty Artisan Pouilly-Fumé Caillottes is a special bottling of greater quality than their introductory offering of Sauvignon Blanc. This is an incredibly value wine! The nose is greeted with an aromatic bouquet of flinty minerality, green apple, and citrus zest, underscored by delicate notes of white flowers and wet stone. On the palate, it is crisp and lively, showcasing flavors of lime, grapefruit, and a touch of gooseberry. The wine’s texture is both refined and refreshing, leading to a long, clean finish with a lingering minerality that reflects its Caillottes origins.
