The Land:
Sourced from some of the finest vineyard sites in the Mosel Valley, the 2023 Moselle Riesling is predominantly harvested from the renowned Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, with additional grapes from the Wintricher Ohligsberg and Piesporter Günterslay. These vineyards, nestled along the steep, slate-rich slopes of the Mosel River, benefit from optimal sunlight and the cooling effect of the river, which helps to preserve the Riesling's vibrant acidity. The mineral-rich soils of the region lend the wine its distinct flinty character, while the cool, late-ripening climate allows the grapes to slowly develop their aromatic complexity.

The Wine:
The 2023 Moselle Riesling bursts with aromatic intensity, offering an enticing bouquet of fresh herbs, yellow peach, green apple, lime zest, and a touch of flinty minerality. Fermented and matured in traditional Fuder (1,000-liter oak casks), this Riesling exhibits a fine balance between freshness and depth. On the palate, it’s linear and driven by zesty acidity, with a crisp mineral edge that extends through the long, refreshing finish. Though it has a barely off-dry level of residual sugar, the wine tastes bone-dry, with its vibrant citrus and stone fruit flavors perfectly complemented by an undercurrent of slatey minerality.

The People:
Winemaker Julian Haart has quickly established himself as one of the rising stars of the Mosel. With deep roots in the region and a passion for crafting pure, terroir-driven Rieslings, Haart’s approach is defined by minimal intervention and a deep respect for tradition. Fermenting the Moselle Riesling in large Fuder casks, he embraces a style that allows the vineyards' natural characteristics to shine. Haart’s meticulous attention to detail in both the vineyard and cellar has made his wines highly sought after, showcasing the elegance, precision, and complexity that the Mosel’s best Rieslings have to offer.

The wines of the Mosel are known for their aromatic complexity and their incredibly graceful nature, and are a benchmark for all Riesling made throughout the world.

Germany - Mosel

Riesling is a truly noble grape, known for its incredibly high acidity and a flavor profile that can range from bone dry to lusciously sweet. Germany is its heartland, and it's responsible for some of the world's most age-worthy examples, but Riesling also thrives in Austria, where it usually is dry. In Alsace, it takes on a slightly richer texture, while in parts of Australia, like the Clare and Eden Valleys, it displays a uniquely powerful and lime-tinged aromatic profile. This is a grape that has no problem showcasing its origins, and it's a fantastic example of how one variety can show many different expressions, each with its own unique appeal.
