Graham Family Vineyard sits in the heart of the Russian River Valley, where coastal fog and well-draining Goldridge sandy loam soils create ideal conditions for Pinot Noir. The vineyard’s proximity to the Pacific ensures cool mornings and long growing seasons, allowing the fruit to ripen slowly while preserving natural acidity. This balance of warmth and maritime influence results in Pinot Noir with depth, structure, and vibrant aromatics.
The Wine:
Sourced from meticulously farmed vines, the 2022 Graham Family Pinot Noir is fermented with native yeasts and sees a mix of whole-cluster and destemmed fruit, adding complexity and fine tannins. Aged in French oak (25% new), the wine showcases dark cherry, wild raspberry, and crushed rose petal, with underlying notes of forest floor and spice. The palate is silky yet structured, with bright acidity and a long, mineral-driven finish.

Winemaker Ed Kurtzman has crafted August West wines with a focus on site expression and minimal intervention since 2003. Sourcing from top vineyards across the Santa Lucia Highlands, Russian River Valley, and Santa Maria Valley, August West wines reflect purity, balance, and a deep sense of place.
