Chateau Rieussec is known for being one of the great Sauternes houses, classified as a first growth in 1855. Started by Carmelite monks, it was confiscated during the French Revolution and in 1984 landed in the hands of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite). The combined power of that winemaking team is astonishing, and the sweets are worth every penny, when you can find them. But... DO NOT SLEEP ON THEIR DRY WHITE YALL. Around half and half Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, 20% fermented in oak barrels. Don't say I didn't tell you.
