The Land:

Nestled within the rugged terrain of Priorat’s Les Manyetes paraje near Gratallops, Clos i Terrasses cultivates vines rooted in the region’s characteristic llicorella slate soils. These well-draining soils, combined with the Mediterranean climate’s warm days and cool nights, foster a unique environment where white grape varieties can develop both richness and vibrant acidity. The elevation and exposure of these vineyards further contribute to the wine’s distinctive minerality and depth.

The Wine:

Laurel Blanc 2023 is an artful blend of 85% Garnacha Blanca, 8% Chenin Blanc, and 7% Viognier. The grapes were hand-harvested in early August, meticulously destemmed, and gently pressed using a manual press. Fermentation occurred with native yeasts in a combination of 400-liter barrels and amphorae, where the wine matured for seven months. This careful vinification process yields a wine that harmoniously balances notes of ripe stone fruits and citrus zest with a pronounced saline minerality, all underpinned by a subtle, well-integrated oak influence.

Daphne Glorian, the visionary behind Clos i Terrasses, has long been celebrated for her exceptional red wines in Priorat. In 2023, she expanded her repertoire with the inaugural release of Laurel Blanc, crafted from a recently acquired 13-hectare parcel in Les Manyetes.
