The Land

This Riesling draws its essence from the storied slopes of the Mosel, where some of the most revered Riesling vineyards lie. The grapes hail from the Grand Cru Goldtröpfchen vineyard, famed for its south-facing aspect and slate-rich soils, which imbue the wine with a distinctive minerality. Just above, the Falkenberg vineyard complements this with its slightly cooler position, adding a vibrant freshness to the wine. Together, these sites create a harmony of richness and brightness that is quintessential to this region, where steep slopes and the reflective surface of the Mosel River create an ideal microclimate for nurturing Riesling’s delicate complexity.

The Wine
At 9% ABV, the Julian Haart Riesling JJ Kabinett is a masterclass in balance. It has 46 grams of residual sugar, resulting in an elegant dance between sweetness and acidity. On the palate, this Kabinett offers a delicate tension, where ripe stone fruits and a hint of citrus zest play off a backbone of slate-driven minerality. The finish is light and ethereal, with the sweetness never overwhelming but instead enhancing the wine’s crisp, refreshing character. This wine is reminiscent of the classic Mosel style, a nod to the heritage of J.J. Prüm, combining opulence with a poised, almost weightless grace.

The People
Julian Haart, a rising star in the Mosel, is deeply rooted in tradition while pushing the boundaries of modern winemaking. The "JJ" in this wine’s name honors not just his young son, Johann Josef, but also carries the legacy of his grandfather and great-grandfather, who bore the same name. Julian’s approach is both reverent and innovative, crafting wines that reflect his deep connection to the land and his desire to create something lasting for future generations. This Kabinett, with its tribute to J.J. Prüm’s iconic style, captures Julian’s philosophy of honoring the past while looking towards the future, producing a wine that is both timeless and contemporary.

The Mosel, a stunning river valley in Germany, is a region synonymous with Riesling. The area's steep, slate slopes create a unique terroir that imparts a distinct minerality and high acidity to the wines. Mosel Rieslings range from bone dry to intensely sweet, showcasing the grape's versatility and the region's incredible potential for producing complex, age-worthy wines. The wines of the Mosel are known for their aromatic complexity and their incredibly graceful nature, and are a benchmark for all Riesling made throughout the world.

Germany - Mosel

Riesling is a truly noble grape, known for its incredibly high acidity and a flavor profile that can range from bone dry to lusciously sweet. Germany is its heartland, and it's responsible for some of the world's most age-worthy examples, but Riesling also thrives in Austria, where it usually is dry. In Alsace, it takes on a slightly richer texture, while in parts of Australia, like the Clare and Eden Valleys, it displays a uniquely powerful and lime-tinged aromatic profile. This is a grape that has no problem showcasing its origins, and it's a fantastic example of how one variety can show many different expressions, each with its own unique appeal.
