The Land

In the heart of Rheinhessen, where limestone soils define the texture and tension of the region’s greatest wines, Seehof finds its voice. Once dismissed as the source of bulk wine, Rheinhessen has emerged as a beacon of precision and purity in German viticulture. The vineyards around Westhofen—Morstein, Kirchspiel, Steingrube—are now names of reverence, shaped by a climate of sunny days and cool nights that preserve acidity and aromatic clarity. Here, limestone doesn’t just support the vines—it sculpts the wines, lending both glycerin richness and a linear, mineral cut that anchors even the most aromatic varietals.

The Wine

“Same, Same but Different” is a joyful expression of variety, both in grapes and in spirit. Muskateller brings floral lift and citrus spice, Weißburgunder adds mid-palate creaminess, and Riesling sharpens the frame with its electric acidity. Depending on the vintage, a bit of Scheurebe or Sauvignon Blanc might appear, each adding its own accent—passionfruit, herb, or snap. What unites the blend is its buoyancy and clarity: it’s a wine that hums with energy, offering fruit without excess, texture without weight. This a white wine built to provide joyful enjoyment. It’s dry, refreshing, crisp and zesty. Familiar yet different!

The People

Florian Fauth of Seehof may live in the shadow of his brother-in-law, Klaus Peter Keller, but he’s carved out his own space with quiet conviction. In a region increasingly shaped by ambition and high prices, Florian’s wines remain grounded—crystalline, balanced, and expressive without ego. With “Same, Same but Different,” he goes one step further: using wine to celebrate inclusion, with proceeds supporting people with Down syndrome. It’s an honest, heartfelt bottle from a winemaker who doesn’t need to shout—because the wine, and the message, speak for themselves.

Rheinhessen, Germany's largest wine region by volume, is experiencing a quality revolution, led by producers like Weingut Keller. Once known for bulk wine, it's now gaining recognition for its dry Rieslings, particularly from the famed Roter Hang (Red Slope). This area, with its unique red clay and slate soils, is a source of intensely mineral and age-worthy wines. Rheinhessen, with its rolling hills and varied soils, also produces a diverse range of styles beyond the Roter Hang, often richer and broader than Mosel or Saar wines, while retaining vibrant acidity. The region is quickly establishing itself as a source of high-quality dry Riesling, showcasing a compelling and evolving side of German winemaking.
