The Land

Chateau Le Puy Duc de Nauves 2021 originates from a neighboring vineyard belonging to the Amoreau family, rooted in the same astéries-limestone mother rock as the main estate, yet situated slightly lower at 80 meters above sea level compared to Le Puy’s 110 meters. This unique positioning allows the vineyard to benefit from the same mineral-rich soils, while the slightly lower altitude introduces subtle variations in microclimate, enhancing the wine's complexity. The temperate maritime climate, characterized by warm days and cool Atlantic breezes, ensures a slow and even ripening process, infusing the wine with an elegant depth and refined character.

The Wine

A cooler vintage, the Chateau Le Puy Duc de Nauves 2021 is a masterful blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. This cuvée is crafted with meticulous care, adhering to the same natural, organic, and biodynamic principles as the main estate. Fermentation occurs with indigenous yeast, followed by a maturation period of 12 months in small cement vats. The wine is then bottled without filtration, preserving its authentic essence. At 13.5% alcohol, this wine presents a harmonious balance, with a captivating bouquet of black fruit, plum, and cherry. On the palate, it reveals a perfect equilibrium between freshness and velvety tannins, underpinned by a vibrant acidity and a refined minerality that lingers elegantly on the finish.

The People

The Amoreau family, custodians of Chateau Le Puy for over four centuries, bring their expertise and passion to the Duc de Nauves vineyard. The same dedicated team that cultivates and vinifies the wines of Chateau Le Puy applies their knowledge and biodynamic practices to this vineyard, ensuring that every bottle reflects the family's commitment to sustainability and quality. Jean-Pierre Amoreau leads this effort with a philosophy rooted in minimal intervention, allowing the true character of the vineyard and purity of the fruit to shine through.

For some of the most iconic wines in the world, a trip to Bordeaux is a must. The region is divided by the Gironde river, with the Left Bank producing wines dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, while the Right Bank features more Merlot-based blends. Along with the reds, great dry whites and sweet wines like Sauternes are also produced, making it a wine lover's paradise.
