The Land
Rabajà is a revered vineyard in Barbaresco, perched on a steep southwest-facing slope at elevations ranging from about 240 to 315 meters. This narrow strip of land sits at the confluence of two soil types—one higher in clay content, the other richer in limestone—giving the site a signature complexity. Known for its firm yet balanced structure, Rabajà embodies Barbaresco’s classic mix of power and finesse, thanks to the interplay of warm exposure, stratified marine soils, and proximity to the Tanaro River.

The Wine
Produttori del Barbaresco’s 2019 Riserva Rabajà encapsulates the deep tradition of the region, reflecting both the vineyard’s intrinsic harmony and the co-op’s time-honored methods. Nebbiolo grapes undergo an extended fermentation of up to three weeks before maturing for several years in large botti, allowing the wine’s tannins and aromatics to fully integrate. The result is a quintessential Barbaresco marked by dark cherry, savory earth, and a lifted floral tone, completed with firm tannins and a persistent finish—truly an ageworthy expression of Rabajà.

The People
Produttori del Barbaresco emerged in 1958 from the collaborative vision of 19 small growers seeking stability in post-war Piedmont. Today, it unites around 60 families who collectively farm many of the region’s most hallowed crus, including Rabajà. Guided by a steadfast commitment to traditional winemaking, each Riserva bottling honors the unique terroir of its vineyard while showcasing the co-op’s unwavering dedication to quality. In doing so, Produttori del Barbaresco has become a cornerstone of classic Barbaresco, celebrated worldwide for wines that remain authentic and true to their origins.

Piedmont, framed by the Alps in northwestern Italy, is a land of rolling hills and carefully cultivated vineyards. The continental climate, with its cold winters and warm summers, creates prime conditions for the Nebbiolo grape, which dominates much of the region's red wine production. The Langhe area is home to Barolo and Barbaresco, structured red wines known for their complex aromas, firm tannins, and aging potential. While Nebbiolo is the dominant grape of Piedmont, the region also makes interesting white wines like those from Arneis and Timorasso. Alto Piemonte is a separate region in the north with its own distinctive expressions of Nebbiolo, alongside other red grape varietals.

Italy - Piedmont

Nebbiolo, a prestigious grape from Italy's Piedmont region, is celebrated for its profound truffle and rose aromas, complex flavors, and ability to age gracefully thanks to strong acidity and tannins, producing the renowned Barolo and Barbaresco wines.
