The Land
Château Pigoudet sits at the northern edge of the Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence appellation, perched at 400 meters elevation in the foothills of the Sainte-Victoire. The altitude, combined with rocky limestone soils and a steady influence from the mistral wind, creates a cooler microclimate than much of Provence. This slower ripening preserves acidity and aromatic lift, while the well-drained soils contribute to the wine’s tension and clarity. In 2024, a mild spring and long, sunny summer yielded clean, vibrant fruit with excellent natural balance.
The Wine
A blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, and a touch of Vermentino, “Première” is direct-pressed, fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel, and aged briefly on fine lees to preserve freshness and mouthfeel. The 2024 shows classic Provençal character: pale salmon color, crisp citrus, wild strawberry, white peach, and a faint herbal edge. It’s dry, precise, and finely textured, with bright acidity and a clean, mineral finish. Elegant and refreshing without being simple.

Château Pigoudet is a family-owned estate that has become a reference point for high-altitude rosé in Provence. With a focus on precision and site expression, the team farms sustainably and vinifies with minimal intervention to highlight the natural freshness of their terroir. “Première” is their flagship cuvée, offering a focused, terroir-driven style that reflects both the elevation and cooler climate of the estate—distinct from the broader, sun-soaked styles of the region.
