The Land:
Nestled on the eastern flank of Mount Sainte Baume in Provence, Domaine les Terres Promises cultivates 15 hectares of vineyards rooted in limestone-rich soils. The Mediterranean climate, known for warm days and cool nights, fosters a balanced ripening process, allowing the diverse grape varieties to develop complexity while retaining freshness. This unique terroir imparts a distinct minerality and vibrancy to the wine.
The Wine:
“À Ma Guise” is an ever-evolving field blend, predominantly featuring old-vine Carignan, complemented by over ten other varietals, including Cinsault and Grenache. The grapes are organically farmed and hand-harvested, ensuring optimal quality. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts in open-top fermenters, and the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve its fresh, fruit-forward character. Bottled with minimal sulfur addition, this medium-bodied red offers juicy notes of cherry and cranberry, subtle earthy undertones, and a lively acidity, making it both approachable and food-friendly.
The People:
Founded by Jean-Christophe Comor in 2003, Domaine les Terres Promises represents a departure from urban life to a dedication to authentic winemaking. Situated at the foot of the Massif de la Sainte Baume, the estate practices organic viticulture, emphasizing minimal intervention to let the terroir express itself fully. Comor’s philosophy centers on creating “live and inimitable” wines, reflecting both the uniqueness of the land and a commitment to sustainable practices.
