The Land
Lezer was born from disaster. In August 2017, hail storms destroyed 40% of Foradori's harvest, and rather than write off the damaged fruit, Elisabetta Foradori used it to trial a light, summery Teroldego. What started as salvage became a permanent part of the range. The fruit comes from four hectares of pergola- and guyot-trained vines across Campo Rotaliano, the alluvial plain in the Adige Valley where limestone, granite, and porphyry gravel deposited by the Noce River give Teroldego its home ground. The same sandy, well-drained soils that feed the serious bottlings feed this one; the difference is entirely in how it's made.
The Wine
84% Teroldego with 16% other red varieties, made for freshness rather than structure. The grapes never sit on their skins more than 24 hours, and fermentation and a short four-month aging happen across a mix of cement, wood, and terracotta amphorae. Lezer means light in the Trentino dialect, and the wine lives up to it: pale in color, low in tannin, built to drink young and slightly chilled. It remains an ongoing experiment, with the blend of vessels and whole-bunch additions changing each vintage. 2025 was a fresh, bright year across Trentino, a mild spring and even flowering followed by a cooler, wetter July that locked in acidity. Expect crushed red fruit, cranberry, wild herbs, and a mineral snap, juicy and low in tannin.
The People
Elisabetta Foradori took over her father's estate in Campo Rotaliano in 1984 at 19, rebuilding Teroldego's reputation through massal selection, reduced yields, and single-vineyard bottling. The estate's 28 hectares have been certified biodynamic since 2002. Lezer reflects the experimental streak that also drove her adoption of terracotta amphorae in 2009: rather than treat a hail-damaged crop as a loss, she turned it into a new style, and kept refining it every year since. It sits at the playful end of a serious producer's range, made with the same farming and the same low-intervention cellar as the flagship wines.
Food Pairing
Chill Lezer down and treat it like a warm-weather red. Try it with a charcuterie board, a margherita pizza, grilled sausages, or a bowl of pasta with fresh tomato and basil. Its bright fruit and low tannin make it as easy alongside picnic food as it is on its own, and the light chill keeps it refreshing through a hot afternoon. This is the Foradori to open without any occasion at all.
