  • Land: Situated in the prestigious Sancerre village of Chavignol, Gérard Boulay's vineyards stretch across 9 hectares of Kimmeridgian-centric soils, known as "terre blanche," similar to those found in Chablis. These limestone-rich soils contribute significantly to the distinctive minerality and depth of Boulay's wines. The famed Monts Damnés vineyard, along with La Grande Côte and Clos de Beaujeu, represent some of the most esteemed crus in the region, historically renowned for producing exceptional white wines since the 14th century.
  • Wine:  Vines averaging 45 years in age yield grapes that ferment naturally with indigenous yeasts, reflecting a commitment to letting nature make the wine. This vintage, characterized by its vibrant acidity and layered complexity, is aged in a mix of Foudres and used 300L barrels, enhancing its aging potential. Mont Damnes produces powerful Sauvignon Blanc, and this vintage is  no exception.
  • People: Gérard Boulay, a steward of Chavignol's winemaking heritage, continues a family legacy that dates back to 1380. With a deep respect for the land and a philosophy geared towards minimal intervention, Boulay emphasizes organic practices and manual labor in the vineyard to maintain the health and sustainability of his vines. His approach, focusing on surveillance and instinct rather than control, allows each vintage to uniquely express the characteristics of its vineyard origin, securing his reputation as one of the leading vignerons in the Loire Valley.
