The Land:

Sourced from the red slate soils (Rote Erden) of the Mosel’s famed Piesport region, this wine showcases a unique terroir within an area better known for its blue slate. The red-hued, iron-rich soils retain warmth and impart a distinctive depth and spice to the Riesling, while the steep slopes ensure optimal drainage and sun exposure. This combination yields a wine with both structure and tension, balancing ripe fruit with striking minerality.

The Wine:

Fermented with native yeasts and aged in stainless steel, Rote Erden is a pure, crystalline expression of Riesling. The warm iron-rich soils bring a subtle smoky undertone, while the wine itself is electric with citrus, stone fruit, and saline minerality. A precise backbone of acidity drives the wine, giving it both immediate vibrancy and aging potential. Dry, focused, and deeply expressive, it captures the energy of both vineyard and vintage.

The People:

Julian Haart trained under legends like Klaus Peter Keller and Egon Müller before establishing his own domaine in the Mosel. Working primarily with old vines and steep, historic vineyards, his philosophy is simple: minimal intervention, spontaneous fermentations, and an unwavering focus on purity and finesse. His wines are among the most sought-after in the region, redefining Mosel Riesling with their intensity, precision, and undeniable sense of place.

The wines of the Mosel are known for their aromatic complexity and their incredibly graceful nature, and are a benchmark for all Riesling made throughout the world.

Germany - Mosel

Riesling is a truly noble grape, known for its incredibly high acidity and a flavor profile that can range from bone dry to lusciously sweet. Germany is its heartland, and it's responsible for some of the world's most age-worthy examples, but Riesling also thrives in Austria, where it usually is dry. In Alsace, it takes on a slightly richer texture, while in parts of Australia, like the Clare and Eden Valleys, it displays a uniquely powerful and lime-tinged aromatic profile. This is a grape that has no problem showcasing its origins, and it's a fantastic example of how one variety can show many different expressions, each with its own unique appeal.
