Tarantas Crianza 2019 is born from the rugged, sun-drenched slopes of Utiel-Requena, a high-altitude region in southeastern Spain. Situated between 700 to 900 meters above sea level, the vineyards are exposed to a blend of Mediterranean warmth and continental coolness, fostering a slow and steady ripening process. The limestone-rich soils, low in organic matter, force the vines to dig deep, enhancing the wine’s mineral complexity and structure. These conditions yield grapes with intense concentration.
The Wine:
Aged for 12 months in a mix of French and American oak, the Tarantas Crianza 2019 is a vivid expression of the Tempranillo grape. On the nose, expect a bouquet of ripe berries, wild herbs, olive and a hint of sweet spice. The palate is marked by notes of black cherry, plum, and a whisper of vanilla, underpinned by firm, well-integrated tannins and a lingering mineral finish. The acidity is surprisingly bright, providing a refreshing lift that keeps the wine lively and inviting.
The People:
Crafted by the passionate team at Bodegas Iranzo, one of Spain’s oldest estates with a winemaking tradition dating back to 1335, Tarantas Crianza reflects a commitment to organic farming and sustainable practices.
