Piedmont
Piedmont is the premier wine region of Italy. Its landscape varies dramatically from flat plains to Alpine peaks, but most of the wine worth noting is grown on the seemingly limitless sub-Alpine foothills which surround Piedmont on three sides. Nebbiolo is king in most regions here but there are other reds and many whites worth discovering.
