The Land:

Hailing from the rolling hills of Entre-Deux-Mers, Château de Bouillerot is steeped in the terroir of Bordeaux’s diverse landscapes. The region’s warm days and cool nights, typical of the 2020 vintage, allowed the grapes to ripen evenly while preserving their acidity, imparting balance to the wine. The gravelly soils of this part of Bordeaux encourage deep root systems, giving the vines access to essential nutrients that enhance both concentration and minerality. It’s a place where the autumn sun lingers over the vines, nurturing a true expression of Bordeaux’s classic elegance.

The Wine:
The 2020 vintage captures the richness of the season, offering a medium full-bodied wine with a harmonious blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. With 13.5% alcohol, it opens with aromas of ripe blackberries, plum, and a hint of cassis, accompanied by subtle notes of cedar and spice. On the palate, it reveals a smooth texture, supported by fine tannins and a refreshing acidity. The flavors of dark fruit unfold gradually, with a touch of tobacco and earthiness on the finish, showcasing a wine that is both approachable yet structured for immediate enjoyment.

The People:
The Château de Bouillerot estate is family-run, with a deep-rooted commitment to sustainable viticulture and traditional Bordeaux craftsmanship. The winemaker, drawing on generations of knowledge, approaches each vintage with a philosophy of minimal intervention, allowing the vineyard to speak through the wine. This dedication to authenticity and respect for the land is what brings out the wine’s pure expression of the terroir, ensuring that each bottle tells the story of not only the vintage but also the hands that nurtured it.

For some of the most iconic wines in the world, a trip to Bordeaux is a must. The region is divided by the Gironde river, with the Left Bank producing wines dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, while the Right Bank features more Merlot-based blends. Along with the reds, great dry whites and sweet wines like Sauternes are also produced, making it a wine lover's paradise.
