Burgundy
Burgundy is the best wine region in the world. The heart of Burgundy is the Cote d'Or, a strip of land where hills meet a vast plain and the slope provides the perfect soil and sun exposure to grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that isn't matched anywhere else. Other key regions include the northerly Chablis making the world's best unoaked Chardonnay, and Cote Chalonnais, Macon, and Beaujolais to the south. The latter is a distinct region in its own right but technically part of Burgundy.
