The Land

This rose is made from Chambourcin, a French-American hybrid grown in the Grand Valley AVA around Palisade, where the variety's thick skins and disease resistance suit Colorado's high desert growing conditions. The valley's wide temperature swings between day and night help preserve acidity through a long ripening season.

The Wine

100% Chambourcin, pressed for its naturally deep color to yield a ruby-hued rose rather than a pale one. 13% alcohol, bottled April 2026, with 6.5 g/L acidity balancing 5.8 g/L residual sugar. Ripe plum, raspberry and dried herb flavors lead to a bright, refreshing finish. 182 cases produced.

The People

Jayme Henderson and Steve Steese left sommelier jobs in Denver in 2017 to found The Storm Cellar on Sunshine Mesa in Hotchkiss, within Colorado's West Elks AVA. Working almost entirely in white and rose wine and sourcing fruit from vineyards across the Western Slope, the two-person team has built The Storm Cellar into one of Colorado's most recognized producers in under a decade.

Food Pairing

The wine's acidity and dark fruit character make it a strong match for smoked pork tenderloin, heavily herbed roasted chicken, grilled sausages, or a charcuterie spread built around cured meats.
