The Land
Remelluri Blanco originates from a mosaic of vineyards scattered across the slopes of the Sierra de Toloño mountains in Rioja Alavesa, Spain. These vineyards, planted between 590 and 805 meters above sea level, enjoy a unique terroir characterized by south-facing slopes and protection from the prevailing northern winds. The vineyards, farmed organically with biodynamic principles, boast a diverse range of microclimates and soil types, contributing to the complexity and nuance of the resulting wines.

The Wine
Remelluri Blanco 2021 is a blend of various white varieties from over ten distinct vineyard plots, including Doroño, Villaescusa, S.Esteban, Cerraja, Valderemelluri, San Cristóbal, Canales, Uzmendi, Transistor, Tabiques, and Cerraja. This unique approach, pioneered by Telmo Rodríguez, emphasizes terroir expression over varietal dominance. The 2021 vintage, a year characterized by ideal weather conditions, resulted in grapes of exceptional quality. The wine was fermented with native yeasts and aged in oak barrels before undergoing a period of bottle aging. This meticulous winemaking process has yielded a wine of remarkable depth and complexity, capable of further evolution in the bottle.

The People
Remelluri, a renowned estate in Rioja, boasts a rich history dating back to the 10th century. Today, under the guidance of Telmo Rodríguez and his team, Remelluri continues to push the boundaries of Rioja winemaking. Inspired by his experiences in France, Telmo Rodriguez sought to create wines that authentically express the unique terroir of the estate.
